5 Simple Ways to Make Your Phone Battery Last Longer

Whether you have an iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Xiaomi, or Huawei — these five habits will noticeably extend your battery life. No apps to install, no complicated settings. Just smart daily habits that work especially well in Malta's warm climate.

1. Keep Your Battery Between 20% and 80%

Lithium-ion batteries degrade faster when they're constantly charged to 100% or drained to 0%. The sweet spot is between 20% and 80%. Most modern phones now have an "Optimised Battery Charging" feature — turn it on. It learns your routine and delays charging past 80% until you need it.

2. Use Dark Mode

If your phone has an OLED or AMOLED display (most flagship iPhones, Samsung Galaxy, and Xiaomi phones do), dark mode genuinely saves battery. OLED screens turn off individual pixels to display black, meaning less power consumption. On LCD screens (some budget phones, older iPads), the difference is minimal — but it's still easier on your eyes.

3. Manage Location Services

GPS is one of the biggest battery drains. Set location access to "While Using" instead of "Always" for most apps. You don't need Instagram or Facebook tracking your location 24/7. Maps and ride-sharing apps are the exceptions — those need constant access.

4. Turn Off Unnecessary Notifications

Every notification wakes your screen, activates the processor, and uses network data. Multiply that by dozens of apps sending notifications throughout the day, and it adds up. Keep notifications on for messaging and calls. Turn them off for games, shopping apps, and social media you check manually anyway.

5. Avoid Extreme Temperatures

Heat is the number one enemy of battery health. Never leave your phone in a hot car, on a sunny windowsill, or under a pillow while charging. In Malta, this is critical — summer temperatures regularly exceed 35°C, and a phone left in the sun on a beach towel or car dashboard can reach 50°C internally. That kind of heat permanently reduces battery capacity. Even in winter, avoid leaving devices in direct sunlight behind glass.

When It's Time for a New Battery

If your phone barely lasts half a day despite following these tips, your battery has likely degraded past the point of no return. iPhones show battery health in Settings → Battery → Battery Health. Anything below 80% means it's time for a replacement.

At CLINICA®IPHONE Malta, we replace batteries for all major brands — iPhone, Samsung, Xiaomi, iPad, MacBook — in under an hour while you wait. We use only original quality cells, and every replacement comes with an international warranty valid across 120+ locations in Europe.

Our prices are 20-40% lower than official service centres, and you can watch the entire process in our open-space repair environment. A new battery gives your phone a second life — often lasting another 2-3 years of daily use.
